Shift-Command-3, takes a shot of the whole screen, Shift-Command-4 lets you choose a section of the screen. The screenshot will be saved on the desktop

Press the Shift, Command, and 3 keys to capture the whole screen.

Press the Shift, Command, and 4 keys to capture a draggable part of the screen, or follow it with the spacebar to capture a window.

Open the PNG on the desktop. Alternatively, combine either of the above with the Control key to put the screenshot onto the clipboard instead of the desktop.

To find the computer's OS version, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu.

wow. this is so helpful. jk. (this is a real-time problem! how can i just find the answer to this question (like, NOW!!) without waiting for someone "from the community" to stumble across my question & possibly answer it.. months from now... if ever ? amazing that apple has found a way to make "the community" do the work of helping it's very heavily-invested clientele.. the paying customers that bought the expensive product & just need to know how to use the thing..! seems there'd be an "index" of "how-to's" that apple consumers can simply browse & solve their problems that way. #helloisthereanybodyoutthere

Bless u all

Hi! I too have been struggling to find out how to take a screenshot. Judging by what version of Mac or Macbook you have you could use these to take a screen shot:

1. Command+Shift+3

or

2. Command+Shift+4

Whenever your mouse turns into something that looks like a plus and has numbers the hold and drag your mouse from Starting point A to Ending point B to take a screen shot.

I Hope This Helps!
