Scanner problem

Hello- I have a Dell 1355 cnw that I previously had trouble using in the scan mode when I updated my OS to Mavericks, After a couple of months, Dell put out new drivers for the 10.9 and the scanner worked again. Now I'm having another problem with the scanning portion of my printer: I get the message "Scanner reported an error. Access to scanner is denied". I do not know how to fix it, nor do I know whether this new problem is due to the latest-latest update, or something else.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi ..


Are you aware you can use the Image Capture app located in your Applications folder to scan with instead of the Dell drivers (scanner software) ??


Launch Image Capture located in your Applications folder.


Connect the scanner to your Mac whether Wi-Fi or USB.


Click the very small black box bottom left side of the Image Capture window.


You'll see this pop up menu: Connecting this (device) opens:


You can select a default app to scan (Image Capture) and select a folder from the Import To pop up menu on the right to save scanned files to.


If you need help with the Image Capture software, click Help from the Image Capture menu bar.

Yes, I have been using Image Capture exclusively, as I am not able to choose another method. As I mentioned in my previous post, I was able to fix the first problem (when I updated to Mavericks), but now this seems different...When I open Image Capture, the little wheel keeps going round and round and eventually I get the message "Scanner reported an error. Access to scanner is denied". Before, when Dell hadn't updated drivers, my Image Capture window/screen was completely empty. With this latest problem, when I open Image Capture, I see everything that should be there, except that it won't work.
