epcaid has taken over Safari. Asking me to call 1-800-985-5266

It seems my Safari was hijacked by epcaid. Safari is no longer usable. I contacted the number and they ask that I pay $99 to fix. I suspect this is a scam, but is there anyway I can get my Safari working again?

Yes, it's a scam. Quit the application. Force quit if necessary.

Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select

Safari Preferences... Privacy Remove All Website Data

to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.
