iPad 2 keyboard not working

Hi there!

Im currently using my sisters iPad as mine seems to have a problem. A few months ago i dropped it and it cracked the screen quite badly but the iPad is still very usable, recently some of my keys started to stop working and I restarted the iPad and the problem was resolved. However, unfortunately, today the restart did not seem to work. I've tried several times and still nothing. currently only about half of the keyboard works, everything else is fine whilst using the iPad,except the keyboad. Could anybody help me please?? Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking since your screen is cracked, the seal is broken and its losing its integrity...in other words the connections between the screen and brains of hte ipad are eroding thanks to the crack and breaking of that seal. Using a screen protector to stabilize the screen then using a bluetooth keyboard may be the only way. Basically your screen is losing its ability to sense touches and there's really no fix for that.

You can try the bluetooth keyboard and just not use the onscreen keyboard. You can take it to an apple store and pay the out of warranty replacement cost to swap your broken one for a replacement. the fee for that starts at 219 for a mini and 249 for an iPad 2, 299 for hte newer versions (and more if your device is 32 or 64 gig or cellular)

Or you can try a non-authorized repair place, which may be cheaper but it's a gamble. Some are good, some aren't. however once you use a third party place Apple will have nothing else to do with the device. So it usually comes down to a more expensive sure bet or a cheaper gamble.
