Will iWeb still work in Yosemite?
I have mid 2012 27" iMac running Mavericks and still use iWeb (3.0.4).
My question is - will it still continue to work in OSX Yosemite?

Well, nobody knows that or can answer that question because Yosemite has not been released yet.
You will just have to wait and see if it works when Yosemite is released this Fall.
Yes it seems to be the case on the beta I just checked and iWeb seems fine on Yosemite
Ha!....we must have put the same search term in Brett as I seem to be finding your posts on this subject!.....Likewise. I have half a dozen or so web sites on iWeb 3.0.4. Running Yosemite beta on a late '09 27" iMac. Just done a couple of minor edits. Published and displays fine. No issues noted here at all.
Excellent news. I'm still a heavy iWeb user - heavily dependent on it as I have invested so much time and effort over many years in several very large websites using iWeb - but I also want to tap into the benefits of Yosemite.
HElp! Just downloaded Yosemite Beta and my iWeb App has vanished... Does anyone know how to get it back without jeopardising loosing files?
thanks
One of the consequences of using Beta software is that you may lose files.
That's why it is recommended to backup files.
So retrieve iWeb from your backup.
And besides that, aren't you using Everweb now : http://www.catz-i.com/
HI, Thanks for the reply.
yes, I use EW for my main site, but there is 2 sites I never quite got around to changing over from iWeb.
I Will run the backup and its a wake up call to get everything updated and over to EasyWeb.
thanks again
It's really not a good idea to become dependent on software that has not been sold or supported by Apple for at least 2 years now.
Move on and look at new software such as EverWeb.
Normally I would agree with you. However, my iWeb file is 8.06GB and contains hundreds and hundreds of pages, most with heavy graphics use.
It would take me months of full time work to convert it at this stage.
My dependence on iWeb will have to continue. I'll keep upgrading my Mac OS as long as I can, but the first OS update that makes iWeb unworkable is the first OS I will not use. I am so dependent on iWeb that not being able to use it will be a deal breaker for me when it comes to system upgrades.
HI Dalavia; It seems to be that some peoples Yosemite updates have iWeb working and some don't. I have gone back to Mavericks as mine didn't. I can recommend EasyWeb which is far superior once you get used to it and they have a great training video on how to transfer from iWeb. As I say, there are a couple of websites I have not transferred to EW yet due to time, but Ethmoid is unfortunately correct that it really is just a matter of time before we cannot use it at all.
good Luck!
You did look in the Applications folder, right? It should not have been deleted by installing the Yosemite beta. You did make a backup of your drive beforehand so you can recover the iWeb application from it.
One should begin moving to an alternative to iWeb over time, one site at a time. We never know when a system update will kill iWeb 3 leaving the user without any way to manage the website.
For familiarity reasons EverWeb is a reasonable alternative.
EverWeb is not an alternative: it is not free! Apple needs to give us iWeb back!
Apple needs to give us iWeb back!
And General Motors needs too give us the Corvair but it ain't gonna happen. Apple doesn't need to give iWeb another thought as they're going in another direction.
Anyway they didn't take it away from you. You can still use it. It works with Mavericks. If you don't have it on your Mac you can get it by purchasing an iLIfe 09 or 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com.
No, EverWeb is not free, but then neither was iWeb really - it came free with a Mac, but you had to spend money on the Mac first.
As OT has already stated - Apple has not supported or sold iWeb for at least the last 2 years now and realistically, giving you back iWeb is just not going to happen.
Get over it and move on.
iWeb was never free! If there ever would be an update you would have to pay for it just as iWeb '08 users had to pay for the '09 update.
You just got the initial version for free when you bought a Mac computer.
Just because something isn't free, doesn't change whether or not it is an alternative product.
Will iWeb still work in Yosemite?
