The only thing that will help you is to restore them from your backup. If you don't have a backup - seems to be the case - then all you can do is reinstall OS X, whichever version you have installed. I think that would be Leopard or Leopard Server.

, do you know any way I can actually get to the user log in page , I can not get past the daisy wheel at the moment ?

- Can you use Target Disk Mode : How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode to assist to recover the files.
- Need another Mac and a Firewire cable
