Which monitor for film/photography editing? I have rMBP 15" 2013

Hello,
I am in need for a actual monitor to do my film and photography editing as I find the 15" especially for film editing can be quite frustrating when working on big projects.

As I have never bought a monitor before I really have no clue.

First question, what size? Ideally the bigger the better, 28" would be nice, but I've never seen a 28" monitor, perhaps a 24" is enough or 26"?

My budget is under $400.... but I'd spend anywhere up to $700 if it was really worth it.

I will be connecting it to my 15" rMBP Late 2013 (fully spec'd out if that changes anything)

I really like these monitors, even though I know nothing of them, so any suggestions would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.
