Help using MacBook as video pass-through

I'm trying to use my old MacBook Pro (running OS 10.6.8) to stream Netflix from a WIRELESS hotspot to a blu-ray player that only receives a signal via hardwire. (It's a Toshiba BDK21KU, about 3 years old.) I have to use an ethernet cable (Cat 5 with an RJ45 connector) since this Mac has no HDMI output on it. I have no money to run out and buy cables or anything so am trying to make due with what I have. Does anyone know how to do this? I get video on my computer but have no clue how to get the pass-through to work via the ethernet.

Sounds like what you need to do is share your Internet connection from the wifi hotspot to your ethernet connection. I don't have a 10.6.8 system here any longer to check, but in more current systems that's done with the Internet Sharing option in the Sharing panel of System Preferences.

Note that my suggestion above is to use the MBP as a network passthrough, not a video pass-through.
