When clicking on links in articles I frequently get the message "Request Entity Too Large". This has been happening over the past few months; I am using an iMac running Mavericks. There is sometimes the number accompanying the message and it is 413. Is there a cure? I do hope so.

Which browser are you using? It would seem to be - most likely - a website design/display/browser incompatibility problem. Have you tried to contact the owner of the site and asked them? I have to pay my utility bill with a different browser than the one I normally use because the utility company's website is not compatible or designed to work with Firefox.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Test.
