Numerous problems exist including a plethora of worthless "anti-virus" and "cleaning" garbage that will prevent your Mac from operating as designed.

At a minimum, uninstall the following:

  1. Cynosure "MagicMenu"
  2. Intego "VirusBarrier" and "NetBarrier"
  3. Intego "Washing Machine"
  4. MicroMat "TechTool Pro"
  5. Seagate drive utility software

That system has been extensively modified and other problems may exist. To address your problems, begin by uninstalling the above according to their respective instructions. Do not use any so-called "cleaner" or "zapper" type utilities to uninstall them. Verify their complete eradication from your Mac, and evaluate the results.

It may be necessary to reinstall OS X according to the following:

OS X Mavericks: Reinstall OS X

May I suggest that you review the following setting in System Preferences?

User uploaded file

Although you may easily override that setting, it will serve to protect you from inadvertently installing garbage.

That is not the system you have. If you migrated software from a system that old, nearly all of it will be outdated.

In many cases, this issue is caused by a hardware fault. A short circuit or a microscopic break in a solder joint may open and close depending on temperature, making the failure intermittent.

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already taken. Back up all data before making any changes.

1. If you can connect to the Internet via Ethernet, Bluetooth, or a USB network device, make sure all available OS X updates are installed. If Wi-Fi is your only means of network access, skip this step.

2. Reset the NVRAM.

3. Reset the System Management Controller.

4. Start up in Recovery mode. In the menu bar of the OS X Utilities screen, there's a Wi-Fi menu. If it works, selectInstall OS X. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

5. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

The "etrecheck" stuff is irrelevant.
