Imovie keyboard shortcuts not working

Hi,

I am a keen user of imovie 09. I upgraded to Mavericks and initially, the iMovie program was too slow to use, so I kept using '09. Since the updates to iMovie 10.0.4 the new version is now working fast, but the keyboard shortcuts aren't working for me.

I don't use many but the shortcut "Shift-A" to move the selection to the playhead position is the thing I use most of all in '09. There's a different shortcut in the new one (I think Q), but it doesn't work for me at all.

Without this function I can't use it, and have to keep using the old version of iMovie.

Any ideas? I'm using a USB numeric Apple keyboard.

This is frustrating and disappointing. I have explained the question in the first post. I don't need to be shown where the keyboard shortcuts are - they are readily available through the help menu.

The problem is that an important shortcut that works in iMovie '09 doesn't work for me in 10.0.4

I'll explain again. If I am selecting a clip from the event, to send to the project, I start a short selection. Normally in '09 I will let the playhead play, and then hit the spacebar at the point where I want the selection to finish. Then I press Shift-A, which jumps the end of the selection to the playhead. Perfect. I now have the selection I want. I then hit E, which sends it to the project. This is an extremely useful shortcut which greatly assists workflow.

But it doesn't work at all in 10.0.4.

Can someone please help? Is there another shortcut which does the same thing??
