Q: Back up computer using Time Machine w/out deleting existing data on my ext. HD

Hello,

I am trying to backup the contents of my computer using Time Machine on my Seagate external hard drive. However, when I try to do this I get a message from Time Machine telling me that all other information on my external hard drive will be deleted.

Is there a way that I can do this without deleting the information that I already have on my external hard drive. I don't want to manually drag all of my stuff onto the drive if possible.

I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.8 with a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. 4 GB, 1067 MHz DDR3. I have 128 GB available.

(I'm trying to upgrade to Snow Leopard [yes I know I'm way in the past] which is why I want to backup my stuff in case the worst happens)

Thanks!
