when I turn on my macbook air i get a folder that has a question mark in the middle of page. I have to keep restarting my computer until it doesn't show that screen. What does this mean.

When i turn on my computer it shows me a folder with a question mark in the middle of the folder and computer is locked up. I have to turn it off and on until the folder doesn't show up. What is causing this?

The question mark is the operating system trying to tell you it is not able to find the file.


If after a number of attempts the system is able to find it, that sounds like your have serious disk problems.


I would suggest you back it up ASAP.


After the backup, repair the system disk as explained at Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck
