I have a MacBook Pro using MAC OS X version 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.10 but need to get Safari 6.1 or higher. Whenever I try to update it says I have up to date version. How can I get the needed 6.1 or higher of Safari?

Update the OS X level. You have the latest Safari for your OS X level.

Be sure to check you exact MBP variant first. Some early ones cannot run Mavericks;
OK- so I have been using my MacBook Pro for quite some time but for school work and stuff- so I've never had to do any of this- How do I check my MBP variant and know whether or not Mavericks will work?
