new itunes 11.3 not syncing with itouch

The new 11.3 update is not syncing up with my itouch. Actually my itouch is not even showing up on my itunes. I don't know why it's not responding with my itouch. I can't any songs, albums, or photos onto my itouch. I have an iphone, but I don't want to try to sync it with my itunes just in case it my do something to my iphone. I hope that someone can help me solve this problem.
