Does iPad 3rd generation support dual band wi-fi ?
What is the wi-fi IEEE standard used for iPad 3rd Generation ?
Does it capable of communicating with 2 bands (i.e. 2.4 GHz & 5 Ghz) ?
Thanks.

Dear Kappy,
You replied NO. iPad 3rd generation doesn't support dual band Wi-Fi communication.
According to Robdrage's reply, this iPad wi-fi standard is 802.11 a/b/g/n) which mean this standard supports both 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz bands.
So, according to Robdrage, yes iPad 3rd generation supports dual band wireless communication over Wi-Fi network.
Is that correct ? Thank you.
No.

I believe that Kappy's response is accurate, here is the same spec for the ipad air, notice the differences.

Wi-Fi + Cellular
If it supported dual-band, then it would say so in the specs as it does for the iPad Air which is the first model to support dual-band.

My iPad 2 connects to both 2.4 & 5GHz. So your iPad 3 should also. However, the 5GHz band has a shorter range compared to 2.4GHz.
Does your iPad 3 recognize both bands, but not connect to 5GHz?
Cheers, Tom 😉
