Kanex Thunderbolt to USB 3.0 and eSATA troubles

Has anyone had any issues with the newly released thunderbolt dongle from Kanex. I've been waiting for ages for this device which promises to convert thunderbolt to USB 3.0 and eSATA. Useful for those not too old macs with thunderbolt but no USB 3.0 like my Macbook Pro early 2011.

Anyway, I just received this device and I can't get it to work with my laptop. I am running Mavericks and I'm not sure if that is the issue. I tried in on a mid 2011 Macbook air with no problem. I know that my thunderbolt port on my MBP is working since I have tested it with a Video dongle and that works fine.

So I'm just throwing this out there as I have not heard back for Kanex on this issue. Anyone else experience this issue or have any suggestion on how to fix it?

I am having the same issue with the exact same setup. Late 2011 MBP does not work with the Kanex adapter, but it is recognizing the adapter through thunderbolt (so really its just the USB 3.0 port that is not working). Yet on an early 2014 Macbook Air it is working and recognizing my USB 3.0 peripherals.

Has anyone found a solution?

Same here - just received the kanex to USB 3.0 and ESata on a media 2011 Mac Mini. Doesn't work and the Mini crashes and I get Error Message 50 when transferring files from my USB 2.0 External Harddrive to my USB 3.0 External Harddrive (Buffalo Mini Station 500 GB Slim) through the Kanex.

I think I have to return this to Apple....Bugger!
