Can't View Airport Extreme USB Hard Drive Files

Ok guys I'm having trouble with a usb drive on an airport extreme. OSX and the airport have latest updates installed.

I copied my iTunes library to an external hardrdive while it was connect to my powerbook pro. I have tried the drive formatted with DOS and OS Extended. When I connect it to the airport I can connect no problem. However, if I have the airport set to users (requiring username and password to login) I can't see the iTunes library I originally copied over when it was connected to the mac. Just the drive name and nothing in it. I created a test folder and then in the airport utility changed the security of the disk to access by device password and now I can see the iTunes library as well as another folder called shared. When I open shared I can see my "test" folder. Any idea what is going on here?

I also get the same result when I tried a usb stick.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Ben

This is operating correctly.. when you setup user shares the old utility would give you this warning.

User uploaded file

Let me assure you the wording is slightly deferential, may make your files inaccessible should be .. IT WILL STOP ALL ACCESS TO YOUR EXISTING FILES.

So only administrators can access all files.. or you have to create a public user account so anyone can access the iTunes.

In other words this is completely useless.. what you need to do is start from a blank disk.. setup user accounts, then copy your files to it.. in the slow laborious way you do over networks.

The NEW toyland airport utility v6 has no warning at all. So welcome to toyland.

Use disk password.. not user shares.. it is awfully hard to use accounts when they are not tied back to some proper active directory server.
