Configuration assistant does not find Migration assistant

We tried to move relevant data from Windows XP PC to mac.

Windows PC is almost 10 years old.

Found and installed the latest assistant (mountain lion) on the Windows PC.

Updated the macs software

Turned off the Windows Firewall and antivirus software.

C:\ partition on Windows pc shared with few users, admin has all rights.

Started the Migration assistant on Windows PC.

Then start up the Configuration assistant on the mac.

Both assistants do not see each other.

Connection configurations tried:

PC to Mac with straight utp cable and both static IP.

PC to Mac with Belkin router in between with security turned off.

PC to Mac with Linksys switch and both static IP

Tried to get the Migration job done from remote only, with TeamViewer.

Cannot monitor what's going on on the mac, as it kills all active applications (TeamViewer)

Not yet tried to connect Windows PC in safe mode with network connection to the mac.

Still both assistants cannot see each other, what's wrong here?

MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), Windows XP Data migration to Mac
