Jul 23, 2014 2:09 PM in response to svdmmantaby Look@menow,If your arm is touching the trackpad, it'll cause the mouse to move. I figured that out when my used my mom's dell laptop. As far as your spacebar, sounds like you may need to take it in. It shouldn't cost a whole lot to have it fixed.

Jul 23, 2014 2:15 PM in response to svdmmantaby sanjampet,I wonder if the trackpad could be not adjusted properly, or possible a swollen battery, or some other hardware issue is causing this. The space bar noise would seem to pint towards a hardware problem.
A couple of things you can check:
Intel-based Mac notebooks: Troubleshooting unresponsive trackpad issues
Trackpad or Magic Trackpad is jumpy or erratic
One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond
You can take it to an Apple Genius bar for a free evaluation, and they will give you your options. It may be something simple. Hey it's free to find out.
If you are still under warranty, make it their problem.
Make an appointment first, as they can sometimes be quite busy.

Jul 23, 2014 2:19 PM in response to sanjampetby Look@menow,★HelpfulWouldn't there be an error on your battery indicator if it is a swollen battery? I've never experienced one since I just switched to Mac last year but I have seen it. I was browsing a nearby Apple Store and some guy walked in with an older pro and the battery was a sticking out of the bottom a good 2 inches.

Jul 23, 2014 2:51 PM in response to Look@menowby svdmmanta,Wow, Look, that's nuts! I looked under my computer and everything is flat. I haven't had any warnings about my battery either. With my terrible typing, these problems are just making things worse.
Thanks for the idea, Shirley

Jul 23, 2014 3:06 PM in response to Look@menowby sanjampet,Not necessarily any indication in the sense of a definite message.
The older MBPs with the bottom removable battery after severe swelling issues would show much sooner that the newer ones with the internal batteries, which can be more "stealthy". Is your MBP pre 2009? That is when they switched the battery placement.
Please do not misunderstand, I was merely offering POSSIBLE causes.
As I mentioned in the post, make an appointment at an Apple store Genius bar and have it evaluated, if no other reason you may be able to avoid a much costlier repair if it is left unattended to.
Take it in, as it will cost you nothing to find out what may be causing your issues, then you have the control as to what you care to do, or not do, depending if it seems a prudent and cost effective move.
Good luck and I truly hope it turns out to be some inexpensive and simple.

Jul 23, 2014 6:42 PM in response to svdmmantaby iJonesy,★HelpfulIf your trackpad is moving without you touching it, sometimes resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) can be helpful. You can learn how to do that here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
As far as the spacebar - I would agree that would be something I would have looked at if it is perhaps loose.
Hope this helps!

Jul 24, 2014 5:12 PM in response to iJonesyby svdmmanta,Hi, iJonesy. Thanks for your input for my problem. However, after going to the link you provided, I didn't think my problem warranted what sounded like drastic action. My crazy keyboard wasn't even mentioned as one of the reasons to follow through with resetting the SMC. I have been rechecking my settings in the System Preferences and hope that will work. Since I live in Manta, Ecuador, there are no Apple techs available here. So if you have suggestions that I can do myself as far as my space bar are concerned, I'd appreciate it.
Muchas gracias, Shirley

Jul 24, 2014 5:27 PM in response to svdmmantaby CMCSK,If you are still under warranty or have Apple Care, it is best to let Apple deal with the issues if none of Apple's solutions help. If you DIY repair & mess up, all of your warranties will be voided. Your best bet would be to find an AASP that is closest to your city or country - AASP's Outside of the USA or find a user group - User Groups

Jul 24, 2014 5:27 PM in response to sanjampetby svdmmanta,Sorry, sanjampet. I lost track of the emails responding to my problem. Thanks for the links; I've saved them to a folder just in case. After following someone's suggestion to go back to System Preferences and adjust my settings, I think things are back to normal. I live in Manta, Ecuador so there are no Apple techs here. If you know what to do for the loose space bar, let me know.
I appreciate your help, Shirley

Jul 24, 2014 5:37 PM in response to CMCSKby svdmmanta,Hi, CMCSK. I think my typing is back to normal now so the only problem I have is the loose space bar. Because I'm not even close to an authorized repair service, I'm going to take my chances and wait. Thanks for the info leading to the addresses of the repair people in other cities. I'm saving the info for future use.
Thanks, Shirley

Jul 25, 2014 2:08 PM in response to sanjampetby svdmmanta,Thanks so much, sanjampet. I saved those sites so I could watch them again when I decide to try to fix it. It's not really bad but just a little noticeable. You've been a big help.
Thanks, again, Shirley
