Iphoto is not recognizing RAW photos from the new Nikon D810

Is there an available upgrade?

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

I am in the same situation. One of the risks of buying brand new tech toys is that it takes a while for all the supporting software to catch up. It is a bit frustrating but it is similar to when Apple changes the OS and application vendors don't have their products updated on day 1.

On the flip side, why do camera manufacturers change the RAW format with every new camera? Why can't that be more standardized.

I have only had my D810 for 2 days so I haven't had much chance to try it out. But it seems to be a significant step up from my D700. The first thing that I noticed is much better automatic exposure and white balance in artificial lighting and when using flash.

Accept that I have already invested in iPhoto and Aperture. Besides the cost of the software, I have invested a lot of time in organizing and editing my picture. There does not seem to be a reasonable way to migrate my 35,000 photo library to Lightroom without losing the edit history and album structure.

Besides, I really dislike the cloud-licensing approach of Adobe. What they are really saying is that I am renting their software with no option to buy.
