my macbook is running slow; activity monitor says i'm running liboxengine (run by root), and the CPU value is 160. i don't know what liboxengine is, but i don't have a libox application. help with what this is, and/or how to get rid of it?
MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
Select that process then click the force quit button
Then use Spotlightto locate liboxengine.
Then move it to the Trash.
Apparently it's an .exe Windows based file: http://www.solvusoft.com/en/files/error-virus-removal/exe/windows/libox/libox/li box-engine-exe/
LIbox was a media streaming app made by a company of the same name. The company went belly-up in 2011. Is it possible that you had this app installed before then, and still have it - or some components of it - on your Mac?
