Is 128gb PCIe-based Flash Storage enough?

I will be a college freshman this year and just ordered the Macbook Pro with Retina 128gb storage but I'm now havig doubts if that will be enough to last me all 4 years. I'd have my iTunes synced which only has music, about 900 songs and no tv shows or movies. I'd mostly use it for web research, typing papers etc. and would have backups of my files on an external hard drive. I'm not sure if when it arrives I should return it for the air with 256gb or keep it. This is my first apple computer and I'm not really sure how the storage and everything works.

It seems like 128 GB will not be sufficient. You should also keep in mind the hard drive cannot be replaced. You got what you got.

Now, I'd recommend the 256 GB for sure unless you're okay with carrying around an external drive with you to have your music, and large files store on.

It really does depend on how you use it. I have a Macbook Air with 128Gb and I get along with using it for school and other applications just fine. I do store things on an external drive for archiving, like classwork at the end of the semester and that is also where my iTunes library lives.

The biggest thing I see that gets most people in trouble is media like photos and videos. If you are not keeping a lot of that stuff on your portable, you will probably be fine. Just get in the habit of moving things you do not need to that external at the end of each semester or so - you can also benefit from using cloud services. I use Evernote for all my notes and it keeps me super organized.

Hope this helps!
