Q: Updated to 7.1.2 on ipad2 - email issues, battery won't charge, itunes wont open...

After I updated to ios 7.1.2 on my ipad2, not only will my battery not charge, but I can no longer open email from any server, tap any type of attachments (such as the Apple link to verify my ipad to troubleshoot), connect to itunes, x out of programs - the list goes on and on.  The keyboard will randomly pop up on emails, and it "multilayers" while in my internet providers email.  (Comcast)  I am at 19% on my battery, so tomorrow, I will be without an ipad as this is clearly a bug of the operating system after researching it and finding that there are a lot of people with this issue!  I am so glad I did not update my special needs sons ipad as he uses his everyday and this would be devastating to him.  Is there a fix for this?

We are having the same problem after updating my son's iPad to 7.1.2! The battery is now dead and the iPad will not charge at all. We're also looking for a fix for this! Apple needs to do something. This can't be a hardware issue when it's happening to so many people right after updating!!!

I called Apple Care this morning and was told that there is no problem with the 7.1.2 update and that they have received very few complaints. The "supervisor" that I spoke to said that the only fix "if" it does turn out to be a problem with the 7.1.2 update would be an additional software update. I was then told that it was my iPad's battery that was the problem and that there was nothing Apple could do. So to anyone else who is experiencing problems with their Apple device after updating to 7.1.2 please call Apple Care and share your complaints with them since they don't feel that this is their problem! We had zero issues with our iPad prior to the update!

    Same problem Man!

Every single think you said I have the same problem.

IOS 7.1.2 was a bloody mess

At least give us a option now to downgrade to 7.1.1 or below!

I have been repeating the restart multiple times with the home button and the power button and have connected to iTunes multiple times trying to restore the iPad. Finally about 30 minutes ago iTunes finally recognized the iPad - I got the restore to start, it got to the point of extracting the software but the iPad died again before it could reinstall - the most charge i've been able to get is 2%. I plugged the iPad back into the wall charger and in a few hours the "connect to iTunes" message showed up with the picture on the cable to connect. I was able to connect and restore the iPad in iTunes (it said my iPad was in recovery mode) and it has begun to charge again but very slowly - i'm at 7%! The problem now is that the iPad won't connect to our home wi-fi - which is another of the main problems that is being seen with the 7.1.2 update!! I'm trying all of the fixes for the wi-fi issue and none of those are working so far! So i'm glad that the battery is charging now and it obviously wasn't a problem with the iPad battery! So keep trying with the reset and restore! Apple is no help!!

I would erase all content and setting after you first back up your device. If you have already backed up on iTunes or have an iCloud account wiping your phone clean and setting it up again would be your best option

I did end up having to wipe the iPad clean with the restore - my son wasn't happy about this and we lost a lot of things that he purchased that hadn't been saved to iTunes on the computer yet but at least the iPad is working! After 2 days of using all of the troubleshooting suggestions online we have wi-fi and our iPad charge is up to 38%! These problems all started with the 7.1.2 update, I don't care what Apple says! Our battery is charging just fine now with the same cable we've always been using!! There is something going wrong on some devices when that update is downloaded! If you're lucky enough to get your iPad to restore and get the software reloaded you may be able to get your iPad working again. Just keep trying, Apple is no help - i'm sure they'll sell a bunch of new chargers, battery replacements and make $$$ off of all of the service appointments that people have to make because of these update issues - why would they fix it???

I am so happy for you, that you seem to have things on the mend. I still cannot get my Ipad to do anything.. but show the itunes symbol  an arrow and the plug/connect symbol.I turn it off..the apple returns and so does the previous.I hold both the off and home at the same time..nothing.

I am so angry that they will not own this and help us out.

I was so angry after I called Apple Care this morning - all you have to do is google "problems with 7.1.2 update" and you get pages of articles and comments about the multiple problems that this update has caused!! All they need to do is look at their own forums! The supervisor that I spoke to denied that Apple had any knowledge of problems with the update. I was told that our iPad was old, that it was a battery issue, that if I looked hard enough then of course I would find other people with the same issue and that there was nothing that Apple could do. It really wasn't that difficult to find people with the same issue, there is a lot that Apple could do - they just choose not to - and magically my iPad is charging again after being restored - so much for it being a battery issue! That update is causing a lot of problems to a lot of people and Apple knows it.

If you connect your iPad to your PC does it recognize your iPad in iTunes?? If it does you can restore the iPad like I did. Once I got ours to finally show the connect to iTunes symbol I was able to restore the iPad back to original settings and then it started charging again. If you're ok with wiping it clean and starting over you might be able to get it working again. Good luck!

OK, so I do not want to jinx anything...but....I just backed up my ipad!  I just plugged it into itunes and it recognized it, I backed it up to icloud AND my computer - and it is charging.  I am not sure what to do now!  Leave it plugged in to my computer and let it charge?  Restore it?  Hope it is fixed?  It has already charged up to 25%.
