iCloud reverting to old email address

I've updated my Apple ID successfully by most measures but iCloud is still being buggy (on both my air and iPhone). I am getting alerts that I need to login but the account listed is an old email address that has been since updated. I can't delete the account off my iPhone without the password it seems. I do have it updated for facetime and the app store and whatnot but iCloud is currently the issue. Any suggestions?

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), also an issue on 4s iPhone
