FL Apple refusing to honor tax exempt certificate

Apple store refusing to honor my tax exempt certificate for teacher discount. Apple website tells me best my school can do is the $200 discount on new mac pro, and now store says they will refuse to honor the tax exemption... unless I pay more than what the site tells me I am entitled to as a teacher.

I checked Florida law, and the Florida Administrative Code says I have the legal right to purchase without tax by supplying that certificate and paying with funds that show the organization name. NOWHERE does it grant them the right to choose whether or not to honor the statute.

1) I am a teacher, and their website says I can purchase at the education pricing.

2) They tell me I can purchase at the education pricing... right up until I present the tax-free certificate.

3) Florida administrative code says I have the legal right to purchase anything without tax for the school's consumption by presenting the tax certificate and paying with funds connected to the school. NOWHERE does the statute grant them the ability to choose whether or not to honor the certificate. It is my right as the representative of a non-profit.

3) They are telling me they can process the exemption... but they are telling me I need to choose between the education discount and the exemption.... as if the tax exemption is a favor they're doing me rather than their obligation under the law. They even called it a "discount." It's not.

Telling me they will allow me to purchase the same item, but charge me more for it in order to honor the tax-exemption is clearly illegal.

How do I get this resolved without having to involve a lawyer?

If I was not clear, no... it is not for personal use. The school is purchasing it. I started the conversation with that and was told that there is an educational discount. I verified that I was entitled to receive that discount. It was only upon mentioning the tax exempt status that I was told I could not. Nothing else changed. One moment I am eligible, and the next moment I am not. Nothing about me, the school, or anything else changed in that two seconds. Nothing about the use of the use of the computer or who it was going to changed either.

Not only is it untrue that the education discount is for individuals only, but the following is from Apple's website regarding pricing specifically for educational INSTITUTIONS. It lists the exact price I was told I would pay right up until I mentioned the fact that it is a tax exempt sale.

No, they cannot suddenly decide to charge a different price to the exact same person in the exact same circumstance just because I qualify for a tax waiver. It's not just wrong, it's illegal.

How do I take this up with corporate?

Is your school listed here: https://ecommerce.apple.com/asb2b/fys.do?language=EN&country=US

You cannot purchase for a school unless your institution is eligible and has been accepted by Apple.

If this has been done then you should be able to purchase. If you think an error has been made speak with the manager of the store if you have not done so already. If you get no satisfaction there ask for contact information for the regional manager.
