iTunes 7 Play count not working

I've seen something similar.

I have a smart playlist set up for the top 25 least played songs, by playcount. Normally after a song plays, it disappears from the list and a new one pops in.

I saw one track which played, the last play date updated, the play count did not, and it stayed in the list. This happened to the same track at least twice before I noticed. However, the next time I started playing the list, it behaved correctly. The rest of the tracks behaved correctly throughout.

I have no idea what the pattern is for the malfunction, except that it didn't happen before the iTunes 7 update. Other tracks from the same album did not have the same problem. All of the tracks were imported in iTunes 6. All this is on my computer, no iPod involved.

Just so you know you're not the only one, I've got the same thing going on. I like itunes 7 but it seems to have a few bugs that still need to be worked out.

I was responding to the first post, not the one concerning playlists.

For what it's worth, I have not seen the playcount not work since the one instance in my earlier post. Since then I repaired permissions, and it changed permissions on a few iTunes application files.
