Jul 25, 2014 9:42 AM in response to nobilneharby KiltedTim,What do you mean you don't know who the previous owner is? Are you saying your "friend" was not the owner of the phone? That makes it stolen...
Get your money back or turn it over to the police.
There is no way to bypass the activation lock.

Jul 25, 2014 11:51 AM in response to nobilneharby KiltedTim,You're hosed. Return it to your friend and get your money back. If he won't give you your money back, then turn it over to the police. There is NO WAY for you to bypass the activation lock. Apple will NOT give you any information on the person it's registered to. That would violate privacy laws in most countries.
You own an iBrick. There is nothing you can do.
