Phone is unlocked put says sim failure

my iphone was disconnected from its old server and I was told to put my current SIM card which was from from another phone into the iPhone and it keeps telling me that there is a sim failure. I followed the steps correctly but it won't work. Do I need a new SIM card or to reset the phone completely?

Hi tiff.sniff!

First, make sure the SIM card you're using is compatible with your new iPhone: iPhone and iPad: Understanding which SIM card your iPhone or iPad uses

If you have a compatible SIM card for the model of your iPhone, I'd advise you to read over the following support article: iPhone: Troubleshooting No SIM

Try these steps to attempt to resolve the issue:

  1. Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
  2. Toggle Airplane mode On and Off.
  3. Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
  4. Check for a carrier settings update. Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, a prompt will appear.
  5. Remove the SIM Card and verify that it is a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it is not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
  6. Restore the iPhone.

I hope this helps!
