Jul 25, 2014 5:01 PM in response to D manby Kappy,Open Print & Scan preferences. Select the printer in the sidebar list and click on the Delete [-] button. CTRL- or RIGHT-click in the sidebar area and select Reset Print System from the context menu. Re-Add the printer by clicking on the Add [+] button, select your printer from the little browser that opens, select the proper driver if it isn't set automatically, then click on the Add button. See if it now works.
Oh, be sure you install the new driver you downloaded.
BTW, you don't have a PowerMac as shown in your profile. PowerMacs were tower machines that ran PPC processors, not Intel processors. You really should correct that information in your profile.

Jul 28, 2014 4:16 PM in response to D manby VikingOSX,The Canon Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X released via Apple on 8 May 2014, provide printing and scanning support for the MX 860. Though not impossible, it is unlikely Canon released another driver update after this date. The preceding Canon driver package should have shown up under Software Update. Check that.

IN general - if you don't contact a companies support when there is a problem - they don't know about it - and assume everything is peachy.
