how to get rid of about:blank and allow page to load

On one particular site, I open the page and click on the link and the link won't load and the search bar just says about:blank. I've scanned with ClamXav and it revealed a Trojan. I also deleted all plug ins and still no help. Here is my computer check.

MacBook, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), about:blank

That isn't unusual to see when a new page starts to load, but after some re-directing the page usually shows up, so we just need to figure out what you have that is blocking it or what you don't have that would allow it to load properly.

OK, but unless the infection name contained the letters "Osx" it wasn't a Mac Trojan. Almost all such things are Windows only and even the few that are Mac usually get blocked by Maverick's security systems.

I also deleted all plug ins and still no help.

How about extensions (found in Safari Preferences->Extensions)? What do you have there?

Here is my computer check.

What's a computer check? It didn't come through.

Both links work for me. See if you can go directly with these links:

What kind of router do you have (make and model)? Many have vulnerabilities that have been hacked to re-direct certain url's.

Have you made any changes to the DNS settings on your router?

Who is your ISP? It's possible the problem is with their DNS server, if that's what you are using by default.

I did the check and then it said to click and go to support so I thought it transferred. I haven't checked the Safari Preferences, I use Firefox and have tried Chrome. The Trojan says OSX Trojan Yontoo.

I tried the links and both did the about:blank. I have a Netgear router I've had for a long time. Not sure what model it is but I can check in a bit. Of note is twice I have got a notice that someone else was using my IP address. I thought that was strange and now that I think about it, the first time it happened is about when all of this started 3 or 4 months ago. It also gave me that notice yesterday. When it happened the first time I couldn't get into my email, so I shut down and restarted and then it worked fine. I'll check on the router and get back to you. I thought about unplugging and restarting that as well.
