Jul 28, 2014 2:27 PM in response to bhargav17by Brett L,Hi bhargav17,
It sounds like you are having issues with your PC being unable to join a network created by your Mac. The following article gives instructions on how to set up the wireless network from your Mac -
OS X Mavericks: Create a computer-to-computer network
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13796
If that does not work, you may want to connect the computers using an Ethernet cable instead of wirelessly.
Once either of these is working you can set up file sharing to work using the following article -
OS X: How to connect with File Sharing using SMB
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5884
Or you can have the Mac connect to shared volumes on the PC -
OS X Mavericks: Connect to shared computers and file servers on a network
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13779
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Best,
Brett L

Jul 29, 2014 12:07 AM in response to Brett Lby bhargav17,Thanks for the reply Brett, but i think this will not solve the problem.
I have already went through the link for creating a connection and I have created a connection too. The problem is that the connection is detected by all the iDevices but not the PC, i even tried to add it manually but could not. So I am trying to find a solution for this or trying to find an alternate program/ software that does this.
And my problem is not about sharing the drive, I have already done that using my wifi connection. But the problem is that I get very very low speeds when transmitting data through my router, so for transmitting large files i would want to create a local connection directly to have speedy transmissions.
and ethernet is not an option as the macbook pro with retina does not have the port and I am not willing to buy an adapter just for this if i could solve this bye a simple software.
