DEpends. RAW support is camera specific. Is your camera on this list OS X Mavericks: Supported digital camera RAW formats ?

also.....the new camera is a Lumix FZ70...says it does't support RAW2 files.....what can I do?

Use the Silkypix software that came with your Lumix camera to develop the RAW2 files and export them as TIFF or high quality JPEGs. Then import the converted photos to iPhoto.

If you want to keep the photos in RAW format, try, if the free Adobe DNG converter can read them. You can download it here:

Adobe DNG Converter 8.3 http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5695

This will convert your photos to a generic RAW format, and if you are lucky, iPhoto will be able to read this converted DNG files. This works for my Lumix FZ28 RW2 files.
