Q: "Play All" and "Story" settings conflict

I used Stories in DVD Studio Pro to get individual segments to return to the segment menu at the end of the given segment. That works fine. But in doing that, I find that my "Play All" command, which is set to begin play at the beginning of the overall track, results in the play ending at the end of the first segment (i.e. story) instead of playing all the way through. Here's how I created the DVD:

My track was created in Final Cut Pro with chapter markers.

I then compressed for the DVD using Compressor.

Then imported the compressed video into DVD Studio Pro.

In my main menu, I created a Play All button and a Play Segments button. The Play Segments button leads to a second menu, where I have a button for each Story that I created to connect to the individual chapter in the track.

The end jump for each story is set to the second menu. This works fine.

The end jump for the overall track is set to return to the main menu. But as stated above, when I try to "Play All", it only plays to the end of the first story and then jumps back to the second menu.

I tried to work around the problem by adding the track in a second time so that I could point to that one for "Play All" without any stories associated with it. That worked fine in the Simulator, but doubling the track made it too large to fit on the DVD.

I assume there must be a way to have the track play all the way through while still having the individual Stories return to their menu. Thanks for any specific advice.

When creating navigation like you have on the disc you are authoring, it is best to leave the track alone and add Stories for every element, this includes your "Play All" function.  Create a new story titled Play All and drag all of the Chapters into that story.  I always export everything from the movie, bonus materials, trailers, slideshows, etc, as one track out of FCP and separate everything by chapter markers.  Now you can set your "Play All" end jump and any other functionality without touching the original track it is referencing.
