Thanks everyone. I'd like to put all my contacts in one place - contact details for friends and relatives, business contacts and loyalty cards (frequent flyer cards, hotel cards, etc). And I want to have the contact information available across the Apple environment - Mac OS X and iOS - synced to iCloud or some other means. In addition to capturing the contact details (e.g., name, phone number, address) in specific fields, I thought it also would be good to capture an image of the front and back of business cards and loyalty cards. Sometimes there is additional information on the card that is nice to have. Was hoping OS X Contacts would do this, but I guess not.

Any suggestions on appropriate software to do the above are welcome!

About the only place to add a business card image is into the photo field. My question is why would you want to do that? You won't be able to search by the information in the image of the business card. I do believe that there are software that will scan business cards and then convert the information into text fields that are filled into your contacts.

The only thing I can think of (and I have done), is use Notes to store the images. I agree it doesn’t make sense for a Business Card as all of that should be able to be entered into the Contact app; however, i have scanned images of all my frequent “flyer” cards into Notes. Those are available on all devices.

EDIT: Just checked my phone, and the images don’t appear. You’d have to put them in a photo stream.

Thanks Barney. Hadn't thought of using Notes, good suggestion. FYI I'm also trying CamCard. Works well on iOS, but no Mac client. Also has its own cloud sync, doesn't use iCloud. I guest that's ok, but I'm getting tired of setting up new accounts with each cloud provider. Would prefer to use just one or two cloud providers, like iCloud or Dropbox ...
