Something strange is happening with two or three people I communicate with.
I send them a text message. But when they reply, their reply does not go to my iPhone 5. Instead it goes to my iPad mini, so I don't see their message until I get home. sometimes.
Any idea what's happening.

OK. Thank you. That seems to have solved the problem.
I forgot that I'd turned off iMessaging because I was having problem texting to my friends who do NOT have iPhones.
Someone on some other discussion group suggested switching off iMessaging. I guess that was too extreme a solution. I should have simply modified the way iMessaging behaved on the iPhone and the iPad. You didn't say, but I gathered I should have turned on the switch to use SMS when iMessage was not available.

That has nothing to do with it.
If you are sending messages to a non-iPhone user, you can ONLY send them SMS messages. You cannot send them iMessage.
iMessage uses your AppleID info to send/receive.
Your phone number is linked to your AppleID and you had your iPad set up to receive iMesssages replies being sent to your phone number (in Settings > Messages - Send & Receive at...)
I am having this same problem all of a sudden, possibly since the latest update which I did on my phone but not my iPad mini yet. I tried suggestion about changing the "Send and Receive" setting but it doesn't give me the option of selecting my phone number. I left my iPad at home, do I have to change the settings there first?
iPhone Settings > Messages > Send & Receive at and select only your phone #.
iPad Settings > Messages > Send & Receive at and select only your AppleID.
Why do text message replies go to my iPad instead of my iPhone?
