Q: outlook / entourage and merge identities?

The forums at microsoft mac support seem to have disappeared. I realise the above software isn't apple but hoping someone here will know the answer.

A computer has the same mail account in entourage and outlook. However, entourage got taken offline a year and half or so ago. However, the identity was not deleted to maintain access to emails on the computer.

I am not sure why it wasnt done the first time of use.  But:

Is it possible to import the entourage database into outlook without overwriting what is in the outlook box. Will it add / back fill emails to outlook?

thanks for any help

Yes even if the account name and details are the same the imported older entourage database should be added to what's already existing in Outlook, but . . . make sure you have a back-up first of everything and anything important just in case it goes wrong!

Maybe another way of doing this is to import the entourage database into another account configured in Outlook that's not named the same and once imported move over the contents/data from Inbox to Inbox. These will be added to what you already have.

I've not tried this but it was possible to simply drag an exported entourage mbox (from the Finder for example) into entourage and the contents would be added to what was already there. Seeing as both entourage and outlook are essentially the same it might work.

Buy a copy of Emailchemy and convert the .rge file (Entourage) to a .pst file (Outlook).

Outlook will import the .pst and convert it to a .olm file (Outlook For Mac)
