If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

it's about 2-3 years old, I'm not sure exactly though until I can see the screen to check.
currently via hdmi but also tried dvi converted to display port and dvi converted to hdmi.

Jul 27, 2014 6:23 PM in response to Ejr1983by Loner T,If the input connector on the mini is a DVI (and not a mini-DVI) then it looks like a 2007 Mac mini that has a 'full' DVI.

Jul 28, 2014 4:59 AM in response to Ejr1983by Loner T,It is then a Unibody with DP (could be Thunderbolt also) and HDMI. Do you have a second Mac?
If yes then you can look at this OS X Mavericks: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode. This is one way to debug it.
Second option, if you have Screen Sharing or Remote Login enabled, before the display stopped working, is to use ssh or Finder -> Go -> Connect To Server.
