Mac OS X 10.3.2 Panther...

...But when I put the installation disk in and rebooted but all I got was

the dreadful GREY SCREEN ⚠

I cannot boot in safe mode by holding ▲Shift but all it says is:-

-Bunch of 000000x000030 and random stuff like that, followed by

-panic: We are hanging here...

Could you please help...???

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6413 should be used to identify your eMac age. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/emac/specs/emac_700.htmlhttp://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/emac/specs/emac_800.html could take 10.2 retail, 10.3 retail, 10.3.2 retail and later up to 10.4.6 retail and came prebundled with a Mac OS 9.2.2 installer disc labelled eMac. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/emac/specs/emac_800_ati.html and http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/emac/specs/emac_1.0.html - could only take 10.3 retail, 10.3.2 retail or later, and 10.2.4 prebundled, and came prebundled with a restore installer for Mac OS 9 on the 10.2.4 prebundled discs (all later eMacs came with a prebundled restore installer for Mac OS 9). Only the 1 Ghz and later model could upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5.6 retail and then 10.5.8 updater. The 800 Mhz model and earlier could only upgrade to Mac OS X 10.4.6 retail and the 10.4.11 PowerPC updater. Classic is not available to Mac OS X 10.5.8, however, https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1757 shows some 1 Ghz models could dual boot 10.5 and Mac OS 9.

http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/emac/specs/emac_1.25.html - could only take 10.3.5 retail or later, or 10.3.3 prebundled eMac disc. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/emac/specs/emac_1.42.html - could only take 10.4.3 retail or later, or 10.4 prebundled eMac disc. See https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2125 to learn about 10.2 retail. See: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2831 to discover the 10.3 retail appearance. See https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2541 to discover the 10.4 retail appearance. No eMac could use a Mac OS 9 retail installer with the orange Mac OS 9 logo.

Chances are you are using the wrong disc for the computer when you get an error like that, or have the wrong RAM installed, or need a new PRAM battery. Note the eMac model by age and model year that matches yours, and make sure any RAM you have installed is for that age and model year, and not just any 168-pin PC133 SDRAM for Macs that say they are compatible with that type of RAM.

Well here is my eMacs serial key #YM****NC1

And im trying to install mac os panther (10.3.2) retail

Now about the RAM, this is the right amount of RAM needed to install, and is the RAM that came with the machine.

And the PRAM battery is fine as the date and time was right before i tried to install...😮

I guess it will be better to waste my money on a new iMacintosh.....😟

It's a shame you cannot reset old OS 9 🙂

Thanks for helping! I needed it.
