My phone goes on airplane mode by itself

Well before i go to bed and leave my phone to the side my phone is perfectly fine. At this point airplane mode is off during the whole night well thats what i think in the morning i check my phone and its on airplane mode and i have to turn it off and wait for all the messages to come through and it gets me mad because its been doing this for a while. Also somedays when ill be texting it lags a lot with messages like the message will appear but it says they sent it six minutes ago so I look bad to the person im texting because im "lagging" when actually my phone is. Also sometimes i wont recieve messages out of nowhere and people will ask me if i saw their last message and i would say no because i didnt recieve it i dont whats going on with my phone it really gets me ****** off sometimes but please help I would appreciate the help. Thank you 🙂

It is unlikely that the phone is going into Airplane mode all by itself. It is more likely that you are inadvertently tapping the Airplane mode button in the Control Center.

How quickly messages arrive at your phone depends on your carrier. You should contact them to discuss data speeds (iMessage) and SMS issues. Meanwhile, tell people that if it's an emergency, they should contact the appropriate authorities. 😉

'more likely you are inadvertently tapping the Airplane mode button in Control Center' Is this Apple's front line defense over buggy hardware/software??? let's look at 'more likely'....which is more likely to have happened....putting the phone down on bedstand and accidentally touching the Settings button then sliding the finger up to slide the Airplane mode button on or there is a glitch in the phone?????? More likely indeed!!!! pffffft!

I'm here today because this happened for the first time to me last nite......and I have never used the Airplane Mode before and I sure didn't 'inadvertently jump through several hoops and turn it on'

My apologies..your reply got me to think more about 'control center'....I had confused that with Utilities button

I probably did hit the airplane button last nite as I did swipe up from bottom to turn on the light....

only time that has happened...but, it can!!

but, I don't know if you can accidentally open up the Control Center without deliberately swiping up from bottom to access...unless I am missing something here

thank you for your helpful posts

I have no idea what Apple's thoughts on the matter are. I do however speak from many years of experience doing technical support for a major U.S. cellular carrier. The Control Center, as it was configured prior to iOS 11, made it very easy to activate the options accidentally. Nowhere have I said it's the only possible cause.
