If not what is the problem? more

Jul 28, 2014 9:55 AM in response to mujrby Ralph Landry1,Be sure your iTunes is as high as it can go with 10.5.8...and if it still will not allow you access to the current music downloads, there isn't anything left to do. Since you cannot access iCloud or the Mac App Store you are pretty limited with 10.5.8.

Jul 28, 2014 10:02 AM in response to mujrby Limnos,You can do it with Leopard but it depends upon the iTunes version which you did not reveal. Also make sure you are looking in the right place for purchases.
Consider buying a backup drive so you do not need to do this again. If you are going to run old hardware and software you need to live differently because yes, at some time you will find your version of iTunes no longer works. You're lucky it still works with Leopard. As you can see, some versions still work with the iTunes Store but not for repeat downloading.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later. Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid. Apple recommends, "... back up your iTunes library. " (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).
Additional tip at https://discussions.apple.com/message/24176756#24176756
Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes if you have the sidebar displayed, or with the button at the top right.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links (see https://discussions.apple.com/message/26364186#26364186)
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

Jul 28, 2014 11:18 AM in response to Ralph Landry1by mujr,hi Ralph,
thanks for the info. I have 10.6.3 i tunes on this computer. I use to be able to download before, I don't think any longer than a 2 months, but now the page is blank. If I do some tricks I can get them on the G5, but don't understand why the purchase page is blank for this computer. My mac book pro and iMac work fine, so I suppose that my G5 became more obsolete. I've had this since '05 and store my music on it, still love this computer,

There is no other kind of G5.
All G5s have a PPC chip (CPU). If a Mac "looks" like a desktop G5 but has an Intel chip, then it's a Mac Pro, not a G5.

Jul 29, 2014 5:01 AM in response to mujrby Ralph Landry1,★HelpfulWith iTunes 10.6.3 you should still be able to get your purchased music, even from the 11 series of iTunes. Just cannot sync iOS devices anymore.
Are you using the Purchases tab to get the iTunes music, of Downloads? You may need to play around, as you say, to get at the music content. Is the music you are trying to download content you downloaded with your other Macs iTunes or an iOS device? You may just be running into problems with tunes that are now syncing through iCloud if you have an account.
The G5 iMac is a terrific machine, still have my 17" but have given up on it since the software is so out of date now.

Jul 29, 2014 9:53 AM in response to Ralph Landry1by mujr, thanks for your time with this. Alas, my G5 is getting to that point where software isn't even made for this machine. It had a good run with very little problems. Again, thanks, muir

Jul 29, 2014 9:56 AM in response to mujrby Ralph Landry1,You are very welcome, muir...I keep hoping my MacBook Pro and new iMac last as long as the 2005 iMac G5...am keeping it for now even if I don't use it

As I said much earlier, according to Apple's site all you need is iTunes 10.3 so with 10.6 you should be fine. As I also suggested, are you sure you are looking at the correct purchases area?

Jul 29, 2014 1:32 PM in response to Limnosby mujr,I understand where the purchase areas are and it appears that something has changed with iTunes. I just have to do it differently than before. It use to be that I could go to purchases on any of my apples and download to each one, having a newer mac book pro and iMac there's no problem with them, it just was with the G5. So thanks for your time and effort.
