Q: Mavericks Server Software Update not working on clients
I am a little out of my depth here, so please bear with. I forced to take apart my entire setup due to moving countries and now on reestablishing everything, SUS has stopped playing ball - but this is probably coincidental.
My current config is a server running Mavericks 10.9.4 with OS X Server 3.1.2 and 4 client machines (imacs and macbooks) all running 10.9.3.
Steps to date:
- After the big re-setup I doubled checked DNS was working correctly and that all clients were directed to that DNS server as well ensuring all the clients had the correct sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL http://su.myserver.private:8088/index.sucatalog
- I then ran Software Update on one client machine and it reported that it needed 10.9.3 and correctly listed my server as its source.
- I applied the update (which triggered a reboot obviously)
- Now Software update on that same machine reports no updates required despite Mac OS 10.9.4 update and the iTunes 11.3 update being "Available" on the software update service and not on the client.
- I am confident that it is not a DNS or connectivity issue because the first patch applied and secondly when I disable the software update service on the server and attempt from the client I instantly get an error "Cannot connect to the SUS".
- I have performed the steps in OS X Server (Mavericks): Software Update Server may not provide OS X Mavericks software updates after upgrade without any success.
- Clicking on Updates within App Store yields no visible results but when I open console every click on the update tab/icon yields the following error: com.apple.WebKit.WebContent[1865]: ERROR: ITSExceptionHandler: {message:"TypeError: 'null' is not an object (evaluating 'document.querySelector("#header").addClassName')", url:"https://se.itunes.apple.com/htmlResources/D0FB/da-storefront-autoinstallations.j s", lineNumber:"336"}
- Removing the CatalogURL entry from the Software update plist restores the correct behaviour (i.e. shows that 10.9.4 and Itunes 11.3 are available) but obviously this defeats the point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
