I have a new iPod shuffle and when i came to syncing the music onto it, it wasn't giving me the option to tick for syncing checked songs only....the box was there, but i couldn't click on it. any ideas, as i now have a ton of songs on my ipod i dont want to listen to!

It sounds like you may have chose to Manually manage music and videos when you setup your iPod shuffle. the option should become available when you sync music automatically, as shown in the article below.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't let me choose the "selected playlists" etc etc function either.
Think I need to call apple and get someone to talk me through this.
