Q: iTunes Match Syncing Problem

recently i purchased four mp3 audio files (not from the apple store) and after downloading to my macbook air i entered them to my iTunes music directory successfully --- they all played well in iTunes. i set them up in a playlist.  when the playlist was absorbed or ported into the cloud and populated both my iPad mini and my iPhone none of the content (i.e. the actual music) made the trip.  the play list title name and the individual song (titles) names were visible on all the devices but the music simply does not play on the iPad or the iPhone --- all remains well on the macbook air. :/


If anyone has had similar experiences I would be grateful for your insight.
