It sounds like you are seeing iBooks that you had deleted, and not only that they are duplicated. I would start by turning off the Show All Purchases function in your settings:
- Hide previously purchased books. To show or hide books you’ve purchased but haven’t downloaded, go to Settings > iBooks > Show All Purchases.
Organize Books
If they are still showing after you do that, then they must have been downloaded to the app, so go ahead and delete them again and they should not reappear:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Tap the iBooks app.
- View your Purchased Books collection.
- Tap Edit.
- Tap any books you want to delete.
- Tap Delete.
You can also Hide the purchases if you just never want to see them again:

I read your instructions here to help with my issue, but the books are still there. I can SELECT the books, but DELETE is not an option. It will only allow me to MOVE the books. I can turn on HIDE all books, but they are still there when you go to PURCHASED BOOKS. They don't display as "in the library" they show the "cloud" icon, which makes them available to download again I suppose. I don't want them.
I didn't purchase the books. They were there for free, but it looks like now I can't get rid of them.
Any suggestions?
