Q: How do I transfer a 16" 33 1/3 rpm recording to digital format?

I have many 16" recordings that are 33 1/3 rpm which I need to transfer to a digital format. I can not afford a professional audio service.

Any suggestions as to how I might to this? Should I buy a special turntable? And is there a special software (Apple) that I need to use to make the transfer?

You need a turntable + phono preamp + soundcard.
Or, 3 in 1 solution: a USB turntable.

hello mary,
alpert is right. did you get on ok?

you don't need any special software. but you do need a record player, and a way of getting that to 'play' into your computer.
what record player and what computer do you have?
