Am I getting a virus on my macbook pro?

I think I'm getting a virus on my mac book pro that has been giving my a bunch of popup ads on youtube (other places too but im on youtube most often so its interfering)

Here is what happened:

I decided to try yify.tv for the first time - SKETCHY WEBSITE? And I basically clicked on a movie and it said that I needed to install something so - BEING THE STUPID ME - I was like okay fine IT'LL PROBABLY BE SAFE - so i downloaded it and as soon as i did i was like NEVER MIND so i deleted the installer - i dont quite remember the name though - and then i emptied my trash and uninstalled whatever was on my computer (i think i did) and then I reopened google chrome and the search engine changed to conduit or something like that and I thought Oh no what did i do. I went onto youtube and clicked on a video and basically some really weird ads appeared - above the description box and above the side bar thing on the right. Do i have a virus? And whenever I click on the youtube page random popup ads show up.

Right now there aren't any ads but instead there are just blank places where the ads should be and they start stretching the page if that makes sense

User uploaded filechose a random video of pewdiepies as an example! Please help I have no clue whats going on.

I've installed adblocker and it's not working

I've reset google chrome twice and it didn't do anything

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
