Thank you. I appreciate that with my own router is an easy look up. Also, if I have my Macbook, I can check the channel number when hooked up to personal hit spit.
I need to check it on other wifi networks where I don't have access to the router console and don't have access to my Macbook.
Yes, but I'm not looking for a workaround to discovering the wifi channel when I'm wifi connected to a personal hotspot.
Appreciate that bluetooth may be a better connection but that's not what I need. I just need to know the wifi channel being used when connected to a personal hotspot hosted by my iPhone.

The automatic facility does NOT work If it only sometimes chooses the right channel. Sometimes it'll choose a non-conflicting channel but I'm finding that it's tends to actually mirror the nearby access point which is a royal pain.
I'm pretty sure the failure to choose a non-conflicting channel is down to the nearby AP routers wifi implementation- whatever.
The simple answer is to just have a manual wifi channel over-ride.
Come on Apple. Please provide the simple option to manually select wifi channel In personal hotspot mode or at least display the selected channel? I'm absolutely certain that it's not a massive technical challenge 😉
There is no way to determine the channel from the iPhone. You would have to do that from the device that connects if that connected device has such capability. See the following.
You have to use the router IP address to "enter" router to check wi-fi channel using a browser.
Read your router manual.
Tether your iPad to your iPhone using Bluetooth rather than WIFI. That way the channel becomes a non-issue. Your performance might also be better.
