Microsoft Word Won't Open

My Microsoft Word 11 will not open, actually none of my Microsoft Office will open. And just yesterday it was working fine.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

I know it sounded like a basic tactic, but I had to ask. You skipped ahead a little to reporting what else have you tied in solving your own problem.

Still, the "what has changed" question is important to answer. It is extremely rare that there would be no traceable triggering event for any issue. May be hard to identify, but there is always something. Try to remember any event that happened after your last joy.

No I understand haha that was the first thing I did. Nothing that I could tell has changed, I haven't downloaded anything or done anything with my laptop other then do research for a paper I am writing. Thats why I was so confused to why it wouldn't work all the sudden, it had to be working at least within in 24 hours before it stared to act up.

OK.

Report with detailed steps what you do to open (I know it won't) an MS Office app. Then what happens? Error message? Sits there like you didn't do anything? What exactly.?

Next report the Get Info on all the MS Office apps - in the Finder, select each app and CMD+' i ' on all - opne at a time - bring them all to the front and Grab a screenshot "selection" (CMD +4) and insert that Picture 1 PNG in your reply - mine looks like this

I dont use Word much, but it is pretty doggone handy at times. MS was VERY chummy with Apple on OS X Office - MacTopia was a whole mini-website at microsoftDOTcom.

You said "... , but you have the latest version. " If this is the version that YOU have no wonder it won't run on an Intel Macbook Pro much less Mavericks!! How long has it been since you opened Word successfully? You must have later versions than I do as I have a PPC Pismo Powerbook.

I Addressed the OP - who has the latest version. i also run OS X 10.9.4. I chimed into the thread with a suggestion as your profile (if it is correct) shows obsolete software and hardware. As I am running the latest Apple software, I think my view is quite relevant. My suggestion to the OP was to delete the existing software (office) and reinstall it.

MIcrosoft's Word 11 runs.....obviously, on Intel-based Macs.

My humble apologies for my oversight. I read your post and it seemed as though it WAS written by morgan as a hypothetical and further addressed to my post, since it was ongoing conversation - my mistake. Upon reflection, it doesn't make sense that "... yesterday was working just fine." and "I do not use Word anymore..." would be from the same person. Your advice is, of course, sage. Again, apologies.

The main reason for the exercise was to get the "last opened" value from the get "More info"

The same thing is happening to my MS Office. The application is opening (you can see it in the menu bar), but nothing is displaying. I have minimized the document that I opened (Menu Bar > Window > Minimize Window), and it then appears in my dock, but as soon as I click on the minimized icon on my dock, it starts to open then disappears. This is so frustrating. I haven't done anything different since I've last opened MS. It was working perfectly 2 days ago.User uploaded file
