Q: I have just transferred my iTunes library onto a WD My Cloud Mirror but my preferences keeps resetting.

Hi, hoping for some help here. I have just transferred my iTunes library onto a WD My Cloud Mirror and set my iTunes Library preferences to this location. But every time I start up my Mac its reset to the original location again. So obviously it appears that the files can't be located and I have to reset it every time. While this resolves the problem I'd rather not have to do this every time I start up. Or does this sound like an issue with the WD device?

We'll let this one pass since you say you had the library working, but usually seeing the two above statements means trouble and things were not moved correctly.  You shouldn't have to touch preferences if you really keep your whole library on the external drive.  It would help to know how exactly you moved your library.

One disadvantage to keeping library components on an external drive is the drive has to be on and mounted before starting iTunes.

Sorted! The drive is now mounted and set to open automatically on log in. No more issues with iTunes library and unknown file locations each time I start up. Thanks again Limnos
